Viral images showing billionaire El0n Musk and actress Sydney Sweeney together—purportedly confirming that they are dating—are the product of artificial intelligence (AI).

Information circulating online in January claimed that photos showed tech billionaire El0n Musk and actress Sydney Sweeney dating.
Two of the images captured the pair kissing, while a third showed a group of people—likely paparazzi—photographing the couple outside the Nobu restaurant in Los Angeles, USA.
For instance, on January 14, a user with the handle “@distributedkv” posted an image on X showing Musk and Sweeney kissing in a room with a fireplace.
The post, which garnered millions of views, was captioned: “BREAKING: El0n Musk and Sydney Sweeney are reportedly dating.”
A few hours later, another account posted a photo showing Musk and Sweeney gazing affectionately at each other inside a car, claiming they were dating.

On January 16, experts at Snopes verified that the widely circulated photos were fake and AI-generated.
Searches on Bing, DuckDuckGo, Google, and Yahoo yielded no credible news reports regarding a dating relationship between Mr. Musk and Ms. Sweeney.
Entertainment news outlets would certainly have reported on a romance between these two celebrities if it were real—especially given the claim that paparazzi had photographed them outside a Los Angeles restaurant.
Days before the aforementioned photos went viral on social media, outlets such as People, Page Six, and others had reported that actress Sweeney was in a relationship with investor and former talent manager Scooter Braun.
According to Snopes, the fake photos circulated online weeks after Mr. Musk commented on Ms. Sweeney’s bust size in posts on X.
