Kidnapped Victim MU.RDERED In Front Of Authorities in Chino Hills

Authorities in San Bernardino County are continuing to investigate a fatal kidnapping incident that unfolded in Chino Hills late Wednesday night, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators say the case involved a kidnapping, a brief vehicle pursuit, and an officer-involved shooting.

Officials stated that the investigation remains active as detectives work to determine the motive and the relationship, if any, between those involved.

Law enforcement officials said the incident began shortly after 10:15 p.m. at a residence on Mojave Drive.

According to investigators, deputies were dispatched after multiple emergency calls reported a disturbance at the home.

Witnesses told dispatchers they heard a woman calling for help, and neighbors also reported hearing loud noises before deputies arrived.

Authorities said the victim was forced into the trunk of a vehicle before the suspects left the residence.

Investigators stated that the vehicle displayed Oregon license plates. Deputies responding to the area later located the vehicle, although officials said they were not initially aware that the call involved an alleged kidnapping.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, leading to a brief pursuit that ended on Wandering Ridge Drive.

Once the vehicle stopped, deputies ordered the occupants to exit. Investigators said one passenger complied with deputies’ commands and surrendered without incident.

Authorities stated that the driver did not comply. During the encounter, officials said the driver approached the rear of the vehicle, where the victim was located.

Deputies then used force to stop the suspect. Authorities later confirmed that the victim was found with fatal injuries.

The suspect also died at the scene. Officials have not released additional details regarding the sequence of events beyond the information provided during the preliminary investigation.

The passenger who surrendered was taken into custody. Investigators said they expect information obtained from that individual to assist in determining what led to the incident and whether additional people were involved.

Residents of the neighborhood described a rapid law enforcement response following the initial emergency calls.

Several neighbors said they heard unusual sounds before seeing deputies arrive in the area. One resident told investigators that two loud noises were heard shortly before emergency vehicles entered the neighborhood.

Another witness reported hearing a woman calling for help. Authorities have not confirmed the precise sequence of events described by witnesses and continue to compare witness statements with physical evidence collected at the scene.

Investigators spent several hours processing both the residence where the incident began and the location where the vehicle was stopped.

Individuals gathered at the residence declined to comment publicly while the investigation remained underway. A man identifying himself as a family friend said he became concerned after repeated attempts to contact the family were unsuccessful.

According to his account, he telephoned the victim, the victim’s wife, and one of the family’s daughters but received no response.

He said his wife encouraged him to drive to the residence to check on the family because they lived nearby.

Authorities have not publicly identified a motive. Sheriff’s officials said investigators are working to determine whether the victim and the suspects knew one another and whether the incident was targeted.

Detectives are also reviewing evidence collected from the residence, the vehicle, and witness interviews. Officials emphasized that many aspects of the investigation remain preliminary.
