Hero Bystander FINALLY Commented after Facing In-N-Out Gunman

Authorities continue to investigate the shooting that occurred outside an In-N-Out restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, during the weekend, as additional details have emerged about the actions of an armed civilian and an off-duty state trooper who officials say helped limit the incident before law enforcement secured the scene.

According to investigators, the incident unfolded in the parking lot of a busy shopping center, where numerous customers and employees were present.

Emergency dispatchers received reports of multiple people requiring immediate assistance after shots were fired outside the restaurant.

The event prompted a rapid response from law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and other first responders.

Jordan Selenus, a 35-year-old resident who was at the location with his girlfriend, Emily, described the moments leading up to the incident.

He said the couple had just entered the restaurant parking lot when they noticed a large number of people leaving the building in a state of panic.

At first, neither of them understood what had happened. Selenus said the initial movement of people caused confusion because there was no immediate indication of the cause.

He explained that he and his girlfriend briefly believed there might have been a kitchen fire or another emergency inside the restaurant.

Within moments, however, it became apparent that a far more serious situation was unfolding. According to Selenus, the atmosphere changed almost instantly as people continued running away from the restaurant and surrounding businesses.

He said the realization that gunfire was occurring required an immediate decision about how to respond.

Selenus stated that he was legally carrying a semi-automatic handgun at the time. After recognizing the nature of the emergency, he decided to move toward the area where the threat appeared to be located while attempting to use available cover.

He later said his objective was to help create an opportunity for others to leave the area safely rather than to pursue the individual responsible.

Video recorded during the incident shows an armed civilian positioned behind the restaurant’s roadside sign while firing several rounds in the direction of the suspect.

Selenus later confirmed that he was the individual shown in the recording. He explained that he attempted to remain behind cover while observing the suspect’s movements.

According to his account, he believed the suspect was initially focused on vehicles and people in another direction and was unaware of his position.

Selenus said that maintaining that advantage was important while he attempted to disrupt the attack and create additional time for others to escape.

Selenus also said he believed the suspect’s behavior changed once return fire was encountered. According to his description, the suspect had appeared comfortable directing fire toward the surrounding area until shots were returned.

He said the exchange appeared to interrupt the suspect’s actions and alter the course of events.

Investigators later confirmed that an off-duty Idaho State Police trooper was also present near the scene.

Officials said the trooper responded immediately after recognizing the threat and also engaged the suspect.

Authorities stated that the combined actions of the off-duty trooper and the armed civilian helped force the suspect away from the area where large numbers of people were attempting to leave.

Law enforcement officials said those actions created valuable time for customers, employees, and other members of the public to move away from immediate danger before additional officers arrived.

Authorities identified the suspect as 24-year-old Chad Williams. Investigators said the suspect was found at the scene after sustaining a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officials stated that there is currently no indication that additional suspects were involved. The investigation into the motive remains ongoing.

Authorities have not announced what led to the shooting and said investigators continue reviewing physical evidence, surveillance video, witness statements, and other information collected from the scene.

Officials confirmed that several people sustained injuries during the incident. Authorities also confirmed that three people lost their lives.

Among those identified by family members was Christopher Cla, who relatives said had lived in Idaho for approximately 30 years.

According to family members, he enjoyed traveling, cooking, and spending time outdoors. Another victim was identified as 23-year-old Ashley Garibay, an employee at the In-N-Out restaurant.

Her family described her as adventurous, outgoing, intelligent, and driven, saying she had built close relationships with family members, friends, and coworkers.

Community members have continued expressing support for those affected by the incident while also recognizing the actions of emergency personnel and civilians who assisted during the response.

Officials credited the coordinated efforts of law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical teams, restaurant employees, nearby businesses, and members of the public with helping evacuate people from the shopping center and provide immediate assistance to those who needed medical care before ambulances arrived.

Selenus said he does not view himself as the only person who contributed during the emergency.

While acknowledging the role played by the armed response from himself and the off-duty trooper, he emphasized that many other individuals acted quickly to guide people away from danger, assist those who had been injured, and support first responders as they secured the area.

According to Selenus, the willingness of ordinary people to help one another became evident throughout the incident.

He said numerous individuals who were not carrying firearms still played an important role by directing people to safer locations, providing basic first aid where possible, and helping emergency crews once they arrived.

He added that the actions of many different people, rather than any single individual, contributed to the overall emergency response.

Authorities have continued urging anyone who witnessed the incident or recorded video to cooperate with investigators as the case remains under review.

Officials said interviews with witnesses and additional forensic analysis are expected to help establish a complete timeline of the events leading up to the shooting and the response that followed.

The investigation remains active, and authorities have indicated that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
