Authorities have confirmed that multiple people were affected during an incident that remains under investigation.
According to officials, three people were confirmed deceased, while seven others were reported injured. Two of the injured were treated and released from the hospital, three remain in stable condition, and two are listed in critical condition.
Officials identified the suspect as 24-year-old Chad Williams. Authorities stated that the suspect was found deceased from what investigators described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Investigators continue to review the timeline of events, collect evidence, and conduct interviews to determine the full sequence of actions and any possible motive.
Officials said the investigation remains active and that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
The Williams family has been notified of the incident and is fully cooperating with law enforcement during the investigation.
Emergency responders described the situation as one of the most challenging types of incidents that law enforcement officers may encounter.
Officers secured the area, searched for the suspect, assisted medical personnel in reaching those who needed help, provided emergency aid, and helped transport injured individuals to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities said they have remained in close contact with In-N-Out management throughout the investigation. Company representatives are assisting investigators as they continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Officials also confirmed that an off-duty state trooper and a private citizen responded during the incident by returning gunfire toward the suspect.
Law enforcement commended both individuals for their actions, stating that they believe their response caused the suspect to leave the immediate area and helped prevent additional casualties.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to examine evidence, interview witnesses, and establish the complete sequence of events.
