Why She Refuses to Become the Christian Everyone Wants Her to Be

For many people, popularity is measured by how many people applaud them. For her, it has become a measure of how many people misunderstand her.

Despite having a growing platform and thousands of people who know her name, she admits that loneliness has become one of the greatest challenges of her spiritual journey. Not because she lacks supporters, but because very few people truly understand the way she has chosen to follow Christ.

“I know how to be the Christian people want me to be,” she says. “I know how to act the way people expect. I know how to present myself with the kind of femininity, personality, and image that draws attention.”

Then she makes a startling confession.

She deliberately refuses to do it.

She insists that if she truly wanted attention, she knows exactly how to get it. She knows how to build an audience, attract admiration, and become the version of herself that many people would find easier to accept.

But that isn’t the life she believes God has called her to live.

Instead of pursuing popularity, she has chosen obedience—even when obedience costs her friendships, relationships, and acceptance.

She admits there are moments when she wishes life could be easier. There are times when she wishes she could simply become the person everyone seems to want. Yet every time that thought appears, another question follows.

Would pleasing people actually move her closer to the purpose God has given her?

For her, the answer is always no.

Trying to satisfy public expectations would eventually pull her off course, replacing divine purpose with human approval.

After being forced out of her home at eighteen, she already knew exactly how she would provide for herself because she had entered that world years earlier. As a teenager, she began prostituting herself and stripping, believing those were the only options available to her.

Even before turning eighteen, she recalls getting into strangers’ cars—grown adults whose intentions could easily have ended her life.

Looking back, she recognizes that God protected her through circumstances she cannot fully explain.

Those experiences forever changed the way she understands grace.

For someone rescued from that kind of darkness, following Jesus is not merely a religious lifestyle.

It is everything.

That explains why she speaks about Christ with such passion.

Many people see her enthusiasm and call it excessive, strange, or even unsettling. Yet she cannot understand why believers celebrate radical faith when reading the Bible but become uncomfortable when they witness that same passion in someone standing beside them today.

The stories of Scripture are filled with men and women who abandoned comfort to follow God completely.

People admire them.

But when someone in modern life displays that same level of surrender, they often become a source of suspicion instead of inspiration.

She believes this reveals a deeper problem.

Too many believers have become more comfortable with cultural Christianity than genuine spiritual passion.

Her own life has been shaped by encounters with God’s presence that she says she cannot deny. Those experiences have convinced her that Christ is not merely an idea discussed on Sundays but a living Savior actively working in people’s lives today.

Because of that certainty, she refuses to tone down her excitement.

She refuses to hide her worship.

She refuses to apologize for speaking boldly about Jesus.

Still, the journey has not been easy.

She openly admits that loneliness often accompanies this calling.

Although many people express admiration, she says few are willing to build close friendships with someone whose obedience can lead to unexpected acts of faith at any moment. People appreciate her from a distance but hesitate to walk closely beside her because they are uncomfortable with the unpredictability of the life she lives.

That reality has created a strange contradiction.

She is surrounded by people yet frequently feels alone.

Not because she believes she is the only faithful Christian, but because she rarely encounters others who pursue Christ with the same intensity she experiences.

She longs for deeper fellowship with believers who share that same hunger for God’s presence.

Rather than criticizing others, she simply expresses a desire for a church that embraces wholehearted devotion without embarrassment or compromise.

As she reflects on her journey, one truth becomes unmistakably clear.

For years she silenced parts of herself out of fear.

She worried about how people would react.

She wondered whether being less expressive would make her more acceptable.

Eventually she realized that suppressing the very personality and calling God had given her was not humility—it was fear.

Today she has chosen a different path.

She no longer wants to live according to public expectations.

She wants to live according to God’s direction.

She understands that not everyone will appreciate the way she worships, the way she speaks, or the way she follows Christ. Some will always think she is too emotional, too passionate, too bold, or simply too different.

She has made peace with that reality.

After everything she has survived, after every place God has brought her from, and after every life-changing encounter she has experienced, becoming a watered-down version of herself simply to gain acceptance is no longer an option.

Her story is ultimately not about loneliness.

It is about identity.

It is about choosing faith over popularity, purpose over approval, and obedience over comfort.

For her, the cost of following Jesus has been high.

But the cost of pretending to be someone she is not would be even greater.
