According to Khan’s later police statement, they discussed marriage and considered relocating abroad.

Khan believed marrying Diana would make his professional life almost impossible.

The crash killed Paul and Dodi immediately.

Diana survived the impact but later died from her injuries.

Trevor Rees-Jones, the only occupant wearing a seat belt, survived.

The British inquest eventually concluded that the deaths resulted from unlawful killing caused by the grossly negligent driving of Henri Paul and the pursuing paparazzi, while the failure of Diana and Dodi to wear seat belts contributed to their deaths.

The documented investigation therefore offers a tragic chain of human decisions rather than evidence of a royal assassination.

In the end, Diana’s story resists the clean conclusions that mythology demands.

Her marriage to Charles was not simply destroyed by Camilla.
