T.D. Jakes’ story began far from the enormous sanctuary, international conferences, bestselling books, Hollywood productions, and political connections that would later define his public life.
Born Thomas Dexter Jakes on June 9, 1957, in South Charleston, West Virginia, he grew up in a household where faith and hard work were inseparable.
